So, we need to talk

First, let me begin by letting you know that “Three A.M.” will be available on Lulu on March 1st. It will be available everywhere else in April (date to be announced later), but don’t let that stop you from reading! It’s my personal collection of short stories I’ve gathered over the last ten years. I have it on good authority that it is a really good book.

Now that that’s out of the way, I need to you talk to you about the project I am working on now. Those of you who know me pretty well know that while I might not engage in very many political arguments, I am a pretty political and patriotic person. I have opinions about the state of our country, just like all of you, and like all of you, I have chosen a stance to take...or rather, it chose me.

That being said, you may’ve noticed that I don’t talk publicly about my political stances. I’ve learned a long time ago that the true art of debating is a dying one. We no longer absorb and listen to opposing opinions in the hopes of gaining something greater than we already knew. I don’t know if you keep up on social media or the news lately, but there is a lot of yelling going on and not a whole lot of listening.

But, I’m veering off track. I do have a point.

The point is that politically speaking, crowing about what pleases or displeases you is admirable in its own right and depending on how you go about it, it can be a wonderful way to show people who you really are as a person. By and large, I feel like this is an exciting time to live in. Whatever your political views are, you have to know that the tide is starting to turn. Change is upon us and how it hits you, personally, has the potential to change everything you now know. For some of you, that’s already starting to happen. If it hasn’t gotten to you yet, don’t worry. Change tends to rise like a flood.

Which leads me to my current project - rEvolution. By the title, you might surmise that it’s your garden variety “Fight the Power” story. Though, there are many anarchist themes involved, it’s not an ‘anti-government’, ‘anti-establishment’ tale. Simply put, rEvolution follows three revolutionaries in a future America, who find their beliefs challenged when they kidnap a mysterious stranger. This book will ask the question “What if everything you know right now changed?” We all seek comfort in our private universes where we understand the way things work. Coffee is hot, there is snow in winter and my job will be there when I show up to it on Monday.

So, what will happen to you if all of that changes? What if we really are in The Matrix and The cake is a lie?? What do you do on the day you wake up and the sky is nothing more than light and shadow?

But, I’m giving too much away. I’m here to say that the first draft is nearly complete and with any luck, it’ll be out by summerish and you can find out for yourself. My hope is not to inflame, necessarily, but I do hope I paint a complete enough picture for you, dear reader, to absorb. Personally speaking, rEvolution combines my worst nightmares with my greatest hopes for humanity. I hope you get out of it what I have poured into it.
